1) Nursing is Liquid Gold and FREE
Breast milk has a reputation for being the healthiest food option for infants. While infant formula can help meet nutritional needs, breast milk has several advantages that formula can’t match. Some of the advantages of breast milk over formula are discussed here.
- Nutritional Benefits: Breast milk provides all the nutrients a baby needs in the first six months of life, including protein, fat, and carbohydrates. It also contains various vitamins, minerals, and enzymes essential for growth and development. Breast milk is easier for babies to digest, and it contains antibodies that can help protect against infections and illnesses.
- Developmental Benefits: Breast milk has been shown to promote optimal brain and eye development in infants. It contains important fatty acids, such as DHA and ARA, essential for brain development and visual acuity. Breast milk also contains growth factors that help support the growth and development of the digestive system, immune system, and other organs.
- Convenience Benefits: Breast milk is always available and at the right temperature for feeding. It requires no preparation or special equipment, making it convenient for mothers on the go or those who do not have access to clean water or electricity. Breastfeeding also provides a special bonding experience between mother and baby that can be comforting and calming for both.
- The cost of formula can vary depending on the brand and type, but it can add up quickly over time. Breastfeeding can also help reduce healthcare costs, as breastfed babies are less likely to develop certain illnesses and conditions that may require medical treatment.
- Health Benefits: Breastfeeding has been shown to have numerous health benefits for both mother and baby. Breastfed babies have a lower risk of developing allergies, asthma, and ear infections. Breastfeeding also helps protect against sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). For mothers, breastfeeding can help reduce the risk of breast and ovarian cancer, and it can help promote postpartum weight loss.
The trick here is to pump and store it in your freezer.
2) Take Advantage of Freebies
Once you’re done having kids, you’ll want all the baby stuff out of your house fast. So find other mothers looking to unload baby clothes, toys, and baby products. There is nothing wrong with second-hand items except for a baby car seat – That must be new.
Your city has Facebook mother groups; reach out and connect with them.
3. Skip The Baby Shoes
Sure, it looks cute, but you don’t need to buy shoes for your child until they start walking, and even then, you’ll be pushing them in a carrier or stroller. Baby Nikes look awesome, but if you’re trying to save money are pointless.
4. Try Out Baby Items Before You Invest
In other words, don’t Costco baby shop until you know your child likes the product. Babies are picky. Your friends may say “This bottle is the best” and rightfully so, but if your baby doesn’t like it and won’t drink from it, that’s the end of that. FYI: There is no reasoning with babies.
Try buying only one or two of anything first, instead of a whole bunch. For instance, I bought a case (12 bottles) of a specific brand that everyone seemed to love, but my daughter refused to drink from them. It was another (cheaper!) kind that she preferred. Diapers, wipes, baby toys, and apparel are all included in this category.
5. Avoid Skip The Dishes
This is a must. I understand you and your partner are tired. But ordering food, especially from Skip the Dishes, will make you poor fast.
YouTube, Tik Tok, and Netflix have many cooking programs to help you learn easy meals. My husband stepped up when we had our kids. He became the cook, and our family thrived because of it. It can be challenging for dads when a newborn baby is around. They will sometimes feel useless, as the mothers are the real hero when the child is young. Having a responsibility like cooking for the family can bring balance to a family. The dad can gain a sense of pride knowing that he is helping feed his family and mom has one less thing to do.
